J O B P U R P O S E:
This position is responsible fordirect solicitation of major gifts.
In addition to managing aportfolio of donors, this position collaborates with the Philanthropy Team to identify and drive strategies designed toidentify, recruit, manage, and increase the number of major ($50k+commitments) and planned gift donors and donor prospects.
P R I M A R Y J O B D U T I E S:
Fundraising, cultivation, and stewardship Secures major, principal, and planned gift commitmentsper the following metric expectations:
Manage and grow a portfolio of 80-120 donors and donorprospects with the capacity to make philanthropic gifts of $10,000to $500,000+.
Conduct donor visits regularly and often with a goalof 60 to 80 meaningful visits per year, including qualifying atleast 35 prospects a year through discovery outreach andcultivation.
Solicit at least three gift commitment proposals of$250,000
and nine gift commitment proposals of $50,000
eachyear.
This position will also receive credit for all giftsraised from $10,000 to $49,999.
Contributes to the Philanthropy team's key performanceindicators, which will be used to assess team efficacy and todetermine individual metric expectations in future years.
Builds and maintains meaningful relationships withdonors and prospective donors using a moves management approach,including in-person and virtual visits, phone and emailcommunications, events, and hosted visits to American Prairieproperties, resulting in increased philanthropic support,enthusiasm for, and awareness of the activities of American Prairie.
Develops and maintains a high level of knowledge onall aspects of American Prairie's project and initiatives,including the organization's Forever Wild comprehensivecampaign, and communicate updates regularly to portfoliodonors.
Work with the Philanthropy Operations team and the Marketing team to identify prospects for qualification, usingpeer-to-peer networking with volunteers, the Salesforce database,wealth screening tools, and additional research.
Maintain up-to-date and accurate supporter informationand notes in Salesforce, including meeting dossiers, contactreports, solicitation plans, and activity tracking to informmetrics.
Support the Ken Burns Heritage Prize team byidentifying National Jury prospects, cultivating current National Jurors, identifying new donor prospects through Prize attendees and R S V Ps, and attending Prize presentation events and National Jurymeetings, as assigned.
Working with volunteer hosts, includingthe Forever Wild campaign committee, organize local andregional friendraising events of various sizes to grow exposurefor American Prairie to prospective donor audiences.
Collaborate closely with the Marketing team to informorganizational communications and collaterals, and to keep Marketing aligned with Philanthropy team needs.
Q U A L I F I C A T I O N S:
Enthusiasm for and positive representation of American Prairie's mission, values, goals, and culture.
Comprehensive major gift cultivation and solicitationskills and experience, including short and long-term planning andevaluation, philanthropy ethics, cultivation practices, anddevelopment and maintenance of systems and processes.
Highly competent in working with and enablingvolunteers and staff with strong collaborative skills and abilityto contribute to a team environment.
Strategic oral and written communicator with assertiveand proactive approach; articulate and poised with strongpresentation skills.
Motivated, creative, and organized self-starter withattention to detail.
Ability to work under pressure, handle multipleprojects and demonstrate time management and prioritization skillswith a high level of productivity and accuracy.
Familiarity with computer programs and databases.
A minimum of 5
years directly related philanthropyexperience.
Ability to work non-traditional and long hoursincluding some evenings and weekends.
Significant air and car travel required.
On average 5days per month or 25%.
Valid driver's license and ability to drive as part ofwork travel.
P R E F E R R E D Q U A L I F I C A T I O N S:
Experience working within a comprehensive funddevelopment program.
Bachelor's degree.
Knowledge, understanding, and familiarity withconservation-focused missions or organizations.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
