GIS Analyst
KC Harvey Environmental, LLC an environmental consulting firm headquartered in Bozeman, Montana provides solutions to environmental issues for the oil and gas, pipeline, wind energy, and mining industries. KC Harvey is currently seeking a staff GIS Analyst with a natural science background to join our team.
The top candidate should have five years of experience using spatial technologies for environmental or natural science projects. The following qualifications are necessary:
o B.S. or M.S. (preferred) in natural resource sciences or earth sciences
o Proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS suite of applications and extensions
o Experience creating and managing spatial datasets (including shapefile and geodatabase formats)
o Experience with data management strategies using cloud based platforms
o Experience with vector and raster spatial analysis
o Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Access
o Good cartographic skills
o Experience using GPS for field data collection and integrating into GIS
o Good organizational skills
o Enthusiastic about learning, teaching peers, and finding new solutions
o Willingness to travel on occasion
o Oil Field Experience a plus
Job responsibilities include:
o All levels of GIS support for ongoing projects (NEPA, permitting, reclamation, vegetation, soils, air)
o Coordinate GIS activities with project scientists, clients, regional offices, and other analysts
o Assist in developing standards and automated processes through project work
o Develop and implement data collection and management strategies
o Data analysis, presentation, and reporting
o Cartography support
o Provide GIS assistance to science staff
o Assist with setup and implementation of field data collection protocols
o Compile, organize, and manage, data generated from large field data collection effort
Although not required, a degree or coursework in soil science, plant ecology, engineering, or wildlife biology is beneficial. Additional qualifications include programming (Python, Java, VB, .NET, SQL), ArcGIS Server, SQL Server, Model Builder, AutoCAD).
Compensation includes salary of $45,000-$60,000/year DOE, 401k, health, dental and vision insurance, paid vacation and holidays. Candidates must have a clean driving record, be willing to maintain high standards of safety, and pass pre-employment and random drug screening.
