Public Affairs Specialist

Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement including time-in-grade restrictions, specialized experience and/or education, as defined below. Time in grade:
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade to be considered for the next higher grade (e.g. one year at the GS-11 grade level for consideration for the GS-12 grade level). Applicants must meet the following Minimum Qualifications Requirement to be considered:

To qualify for the GS-12 level, you must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level or higher in Federal service, or comparable experience not gained through Federal service. Examples of specialized experience include:
Developing, coordinating, and carrying out public information programs to communicate policies, programs, services, strategic marketing and program activities to an internal and external audience; Advising on and editing articles and other written materials for local print and broadcast media; slide presentations, information packages, etc.; Utilizing a variety of media and communication tools, to include traditional and social media forums to disseminate informational materials to the general public or specialized target groups; and Analyzing information and trends to identify opportunities in new and emerging media to benefit public affairs and marketing for an organization. Administrative and Management Positions Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
